What does the iBEAM iWitness camera do?
iBEAM iWitness is a live camera that lets you watch construction activity as it happens. The camera captures still photos of your project to build a start-to-finish online photo archive of your project, including time-lapse movies.
What are the job site requirements?
The iBEAM iWitness camera requires 120V AC power and a broadband Internet connection with a public IP address. Solar and rechargeable 12V power kits are available for sites where electricity is not available. A cellular connection package is also available.
Can I remote-control the camera to pan and zoom in on the job site?
The iWitness camera is a fixed-view camera. For a fully remote-controllable camera, choose the iBEAM OnSite camera.
Can I use the system to make a time-lapse movie?
Monthly and project-end time-lapse movies are included with your iBEAM iWitness hosting package.
I want a camera, but there is no power or Internet available at my job site.
iBEAM can provide you with cellular connections and solar or 12V power. Give us a call.
Where should I locate the camera?
A suitable location to mount the camera is a wall or pole with a good view of the site. Call us to review your site plan. We can provide towers and other mounting accessories.
Do I need to hire someone to install the camera?
If you can turn a wrench, you can install an iBEAM camera. Cameras are pre-programmed to work at your job site. All you need to do is attach the camera’s enclosure to your pole or wall and plug in the power and network cables. iBEAM’s technicians are available via telephone to help you every step of the way.
What is the minimum Internet bandwidth needed?
We recommend at least a 256 kbps upload speed. Your image quality stays the same even at lower speeds, but the frame rate and control response will decrease.
Do we need a computer on site?
No. All iBEAM camera systems are standalone and do not require a computer at the job site.
How can I include the camera or time-lapse movies in my web site?
You can embed the most recent image from your camera right into your web page (using the code that iBEAM provides) or link to the iBEAM-hosted camera web page for your project. We can provide your time-lapse movies in a size that is suitable for web delivery.
How long do you store the photos?
Project photos are stored and are available online for as long as your iBEAM camera is active. You will also receive monthly Image Archive CDs containing all of your project's photos for the previous month.
What kind of ROI (return on investment) can I expect?
iBEAM users have reported that using a construction camera resulted in savings of 5% to 7% of their overall construction budgets. Others say that the systems have cut the number of trips to the job site in half.
