FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

General FAQ

What are the benefits of live job site images?
Live images allow you be actively involved in job site activity and participate in problem solving without having to travel to the job site. When you reduce the time to get answers, you help keep your project on schedule and on budget. With live images, you can catch issues before they turn into huge problems, saving rework and additional material costs.

What kind of ROI (return on investment) can I expect?
Clients have reported savings of 5% to 7% of their overall construction budgets. Others say that the systems have cut the number of trips to the job site in half.

What are the job site requirements?
All iBEAM Construction Camera systems require power (solar and generator options are available). An Internet connection (with a public IP address) is required for the iBEAM OnSite and iBEAM Handheld systems. The iBEAM Time-Lapse Pro camera includes its own cellular modem. You will also need a suitable location to mount the camera or base station, such as a wall or pole with a good view of the site. iBEAM Systems provides towers and other mounting accessories.

I want a camera, but there is no power or Internet available at my job site.
iBEAM can provide you with cellular, satellite and solar power. Give us a call.

What is the minimum Internet bandwidth needed?
To effectively remote control the iBEAM OnSite camera, we recommend at least a 256 kpbs upload speed. iBEAM Handheld systems will work with any speed connection. Your image quality will always stay the same; only the frame rate changes with a slower connection.

Do we need a computer on site?
No. All iBEAM camera systems are standalone and do not require a computer at the job site.

iBEAM Handheld

Can I see my job site live with this system?
Yes, with the click of a single button, you can see the status of your project live.

How does the iBEAM Handheld system work?
The Handheld camera transmits live video from anywhere on your job site to a receiving Base Station that is connected to Internet service. Using iBEAM Viewing Software, up to 20 users can watch the live images from the job site at the same time.

Is the camera completely portable?
Yes. The camera is a compact, battery-powered, wireless unit designed to withstand job site conditions.

What is the camera's transmission range?
A single receiving Base Station can provide coverage for up to 450,000 square feet, depending on the layout of the site and material being using. Multiple Base Stations are often used to ensure complete coverage of the job site.
